Victor’s diverse business experience ranges from the software and travel industries to several roles at one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world. \nHe is well positioned to develop go-to-market strategies\, motivate large teams and drive millions of dollars in revenue. He leads a centralized organization dedicated to advancing AT&T\’s Big Data capabilities\, including the capture\, integration and interpretation of data in ways that evolve customer interaction and enable new revenue growth opportunities. \nPrior to Big Data\, Victor was Vice President for Information Technology\, Architecture and Common Services Integration\, responsible for directing AT&T Information Technology’s Architecture and the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) framework\, and for building Common Services Solutions. In this role\, Victor led a diverse organization spanning across all IT functions and life cycles. \nBefore joining AT&T\, Victor held positions as Vice President of Enterprise Architecture\, Vice President of Application Development and Architecture\, and Vice President of Architecture and Engineering at Cingular Wireless. Shapard\, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Oncor Electric Delivery\, as the dinner banquet keynote speaker on August 16\, 2014. \nOncor is one of the largest electricity transmission and distribution companies in the country\, serving over 7 million people in north Texas. Under Shapard’s leadership\, Oncor is an industry leader in innovation and in the deployment of new technologies to improve the quality of electric service\, enable consumers\, lower costs and reduce emissions. Oncor has an infrastructure investment program\, which is focused on transmission and distribution network expansion and upgrades\, including one of the largest deployments of advanced meters in the country\, leading a significant expansion of the state’s transmission grid and other new digital technologies across the network. \nShapard also serves as the Chairman of GridWise Alliance (GWA). GWA is a leading advocacy organization focused on the advancement of all aspects of the country’s electric grid. GWA is comprised of over 100 organizations\, including utilities\, telecoms\, technology\, equipment manufacturers\, consultants\, labs and universities. He also serves as a board member of Leidos Corporation. Leidos is a scientific\, engineering\, systems integration and technical services company focused on national defense\, healthcare and engineering. \nShapard has a wealth of operating\, financial and leadership experience from past positions. He rejoined Oncor in late 2005 as a strategic advisor\, helping to implement and execute growth and development strategies. Previously\, he had served the company for 20 years in various financial and operating leadership roles\, finishing as managing director of former subsidiary TXU Australia which owned and operated an electric generation business\, a wholesale energy trading business\, electric and gas retail businesses\, and electric and gas regulated utility businesses based in Melbourne Australia. \nPrior to his current tenure at Oncor\, he served as chief financial officer of Tenet Healthcare Corporation where he oversaw all financial activities for Tenet and its subsidiaries. Tenet operated one of the largest for profit hospital groups in the US employing over 75\,000 people across the country. Prior to this position\, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Exelon Corporation. Exelon is one the largest electricity generators and utility operators in the US. Before joining Exelon\, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Covanta Energy Corporation. Shapard joined Covanta to help prepare the company for its bankruptcy filing and to file a plan of reorganization. Prior to that\, Shapard was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Ultramar Diamond Shamrock\, a leading North American refining and marketing company. At UDS\, Shapard led a financial restructuring of the company and other initiatives leading to the company’s merger with Valero Energy\, which created the nation’s second-largest oil refiner. \nShapard is active civically. He is co-chairman of The Dallas Mayor’s Youth Fitness Initiative. Shapard is also on the board of the Circle Ten Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Woodall Park Foundation. He held various positions in Advanced CMOS and Analog Technology Development at Texas Instruments\, including Process Engineer\, Technician Supervisor and Program Manager. Simon is currently a Project Manager in ATD Technology Transfer team at Texas Instruments (TI). Simon served as the Vice Chair and Chair of TI Chinese Initiative (TI CI) in 2003 and 2004 respectively and supported many events hosted by non-profit organizations such as CIE and AACC as well as fundraising campaigns for JDRF and United Way. He is currently an active member of TI CI Advisor Board and CIE/USA-DFW 2014 Convention Chair. Simon also served as a Board Member of AACC in 2005. Simon’s hobbies include hiking and watching football games. Favorite hiking places are Big Bend National Park (N.P.)\, Yosemite N.P. and Grand Canyon N.P. SUMMARY:2013 CIE/USA-DFW Annual Convention
DESCRIPTION: \nThe annual convention is a celebration of the services that CIE/USA-DFW has delivered to the DFW community\, and to affirm the partnership we have with industry\, universities\, government and community in which our members live and work. CIE/USA takes great pride of its 96 years of history\, serving and representing the community of engineers of Chinese cultural heritage. As a non-profit professional organization\, CIE/USA plays an important role in our economy and our society\, especially with the growing needs for business savvy skilled workers in the field of engineering and science. \nThe convention will feature three events: \nVIP Reception (5:30 – 6:30 pm)\nVIP Reception is by invitation only. Proclamation of “CIE Day” by DFW cities will be presented\, and city mayors\, corporate senior management and academic leaders will be invited to speak at reception. \n1st Young Achievers (YA) Reunion (4:30 – 6:30 pm)\nCIE Young Achievers are capable individuals demonstrating expansive interests\, a drive to succeed\, and high performance. These individuals are selected during their high school years. At the Young Achiever Reunion\, held during the 2013 annual convention\, Young Achievers from previous years will gather for to catch up and share their experiences\, ambitions\, and lessons. Dr. Keh-Shew Lu\, founder of CIE/USA-DFW and president of Diodes will provide the keynote speech. Wen-Shin Wang\, a former YA\, will be speaking career development\, networking\, and job experiences. Former Young Achievers can socialize\, and bios of current experiences and future work will be available in a streaming presentation. At the conclusion of the event\, there will be a panel discussion for various topics revolving about success in the workplace through soft skills and effective communication\, including conflict resolution\, influencing\, and pitfalls in communication. The banquet will also feature the presentation of Young Achiever Award (YAA). YAA is designed to encourage the younger generation of CIE life members to achieve high academic performance\, to develop leadership skills\, to develop strong interest in engineering\, and to participate in extracurricular and community volunteer activities to enable them to achieve the greatest possible impact in their communities. These well-rounded skills will help them to become better leaders in this very competitive global market place.
