Victor Nilson, Senior Vice President – Big Data, AT&T

Victor Nilson was appointed Senior Vice President – Big Data of AT&T in January 2013, bringing a wealth of experience in building large-scale technology teams, complex platforms and systems. Victor’s diverse business experience ranges from the software and travel industries to several roles at one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.

He is well positioned to develop go-to-market strategies, motivate large teams and drive millions of dollars in revenue. He leads a centralized organization dedicated to advancing AT&T\’s Big Data capabilities, including the capture, integration and interpretation of data in ways that evolve customer interaction and enable new revenue growth opportunities.

Prior to Big Data, Victor was Vice President for Information Technology, Architecture and Common Services Integration, responsible for directing AT&T Information Technology’s Architecture and the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) framework, and for building Common Services Solutions. In this role, Victor led a diverse organization spanning across all IT functions and life cycles.

Before joining AT&T, Victor held positions as Vice President of Enterprise Architecture, Vice President of Application Development and Architecture, and Vice President of Architecture and Engineering at Cingular Wireless. His responsibilities included directing the organization’s enterprise architecture, developing all mission-critical common services, and the delivery and corresponding operations for key customer channels.

Victor also served as Senior Vice President of Product Development for the Sabre Corporation. He led the development of an advanced analytics organization that was responsible for the development and successful delivery of the first Sabre customer data warehouse (based on Teradata). This provided the data foundation for customer lifecycle analysis and other key CRM related initiatives.

Victor holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. He is responsible for a number of patents in technology and business. He lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife and two sons.

CIE/USA-DFW Chapter (CIE) is a non-profit, politically-neutral organization focusing on engineering and professional well-being and networking. 
 
In order to keep the Chapter a high standard professional organization, I, as a director/officer/volunteer of the Organization, recognizes the responsibilities and the obligations of the position, do hereby declare to abide by the Code of Ethics in discharging my duties.
  • I agree that my motivation in accepting the position is to promote the mission and vision of the Organization;
  • I agree to obey the letter and the spirit of the laws, the Charter, and the by-laws that govern the Organization as a non-profit entity;
  • I agree that it is my duty to inform the members of issues that concern the members or the Organization in a fair and honest manner; but I will not take sides to advocate any political position, nor will I endorse any political candidate in my official capacity as a director/officer/volunteer of the Organization;
