2013 CIE/USA-DFW Annual Convention

The annual convention is a celebration of the services that CIE/USA-DFW has delivered to the DFW community, and to affirm the partnership we have with industry, universities, government and community in which our members live and work. CIE/USA takes great pride of its 96 years of history, serving and representing the community of engineers of Chinese cultural heritage. As a non-profit professional organization, CIE/USA plays an important role in our economy and our society, especially with the growing needs for business savvy skilled workers in the field of engineering and science.

The convention will feature three events:

VIP Reception (5:30 – 6:30 pm)
VIP Reception is by invitation only. Proclamation of “CIE Day” by DFW cities will be presented, and city mayors, corporate senior management and academic leaders will be invited to speak at reception.

1st Young Achievers (YA) Reunion (4:30 – 6:30 pm)
CIE Young Achievers are capable individuals demonstrating expansive interests, a drive to succeed, and high performance. These individuals are selected during their high school years. At the Young Achiever Reunion, held during the 2013 annual convention, Young Achievers from previous years will gather for to catch up and share their experiences, ambitions, and lessons. Dr. Keh-Shew Lu, founder of CIE/USA-DFW and president of Diodes will provide the keynote speech. Wen-Shin Wang, a former YA, will be speaking career development, networking, and job experiences. Former Young Achievers can socialize, and bios of current experiences and future work will be available in a streaming presentation. At the conclusion of the event, there will be a panel discussion for various topics revolving about success in the workplace through soft skills and effective communication, including conflict resolution, influencing, and pitfalls in communication. Dinner Banquet (6:30 – 9:00 pm)
CIE/USA-DFW is privileged and honored to have Dr. Ahmad Bahai, Chief Technology Officer of Texas Instruments, as the dinner banquet keynote speaker. The banquet will also feature the presentation of Young Achiever Award (YAA). YAA is designed to encourage the younger generation of CIE life members to achieve high academic performance, to develop leadership skills, to develop strong interest in engineering, and to participate in extracurricular and community volunteer activities to enable them to achieve the greatest possible impact in their communities. These well-rounded skills will help them to become better leaders in this very competitive global market place. YAA trophies and scholarship will be presented to recipients during the evening banquet.

CIE/usa-dfw chapter Term and policy

CIE/USA-DFW Chapter (CIE) is a non-profit, politically-neutral organization focusing on engineering and professional well-being and networking. 
 
In order to keep the Chapter a high standard professional organization, I, as a director/officer/volunteer of the Organization, recognizes the responsibilities and the obligations of the position, do hereby declare to abide by the Code of Ethics in discharging my duties.
  • I agree that my motivation in accepting the position is to promote the mission and vision of the Organization;
  • I agree to obey the letter and the spirit of the laws, the Charter, and the by-laws that govern the Organization as a non-profit entity;
  • I agree that it is my duty to inform the members of issues that concern the members or the Organization in a fair and honest manner; but I will not take sides to advocate any political position, nor will I endorse any political candidate in my official capacity as a director/officer/volunteer of the Organization;
  • I agree to use my best efforts to ensure the information disseminated by me or through my work is accurate and not misleading; and
  • I agree not to profit financially myself, my family members or anyone else who is associated with the Organization through the discharge of my duties;
  • I agree that in designing and executing any activity on behalf of the Organization, the first consideration is the benefit of the Organization and the membership; any personal gain and recognition derived from it must be incidental; and
  • I agree to disclose to the officers (or to the President of the Organization if I am an officer) of any actual, potential, or appearance of conflict of interest when discharging my duties.
