CIE/USA-DFW Chapter is proud to sponsor the Youth Symposium held by DFW AACC (Dallas/Fort Worth Asian-American Citizens Council). The goal of the event is to provide an immersive experience for the incoming classes so that they may have a more clear view of their future directions.

Young Achiever Award (YAA) promotes and recognizes exceptional academic excellence in STEM, and active involvement of extra-curricular activities and community services of the youths. The award is to recognize students of 10th and 11th grade with top academic achievements at school, outstanding engineering and science accomplishments, demonstrated leadership and active involvement of community services. The award will be presented at the CIE/USA-DFW 2020 Annual Convention. Tentative: August 08, 2020.

On August 8-9th, CIE/USA-DFW hosted the virtual fall symposium and annual convention. Hundreds of people registered for this two-day event. In the first day event, our fall symposium is full of technical topics covering medical, transportation, big data, artificial intelligence and many other areas. In the second day event, leadership and career development invited three speakers from the medical field, academia and the airline industry, to share their inspirations during the pandemic.

The Youth Speech Workshop is part of the CIE/USA-DFW’s Youth English Speech Contest Program. The goal of the event is to stimulate students’ interests and boost their confidence and competence in public speaking. This year, we have invited experienced speakers and evaluators from Texas Dragon Toastmasters club, as well as the 2003 World Champion of Public Speaking, Jim Key, as our guest speaker. The workshop will be held via Zoom Webinar on June 20, 2020 and will be free of charge! The event is hosted by CIE/USA-DFW and organized by Texas Dragon Toastmasters club.

The Annual MathComp/MathFun event and Parenting Seminar are the flagship events of the CIE/USA-DFW youth program. They attract the participation of nearly 1000 students, parents, educators, and volunteers each year. This grand math fair is composed of three events: (1) a math competition, (2) a math fun fair, and (3) a parenting seminar. The main goal is to stimulate young students\’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) subjects.

The CIE/USA-DFW Chapter is proud to unveil our first ever WEBINAR event for the 2020 Spring Technical Symposium, \”AI for Real-Life Application\”, and Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program (LAMP), \”The Future of Diversity and Inclusion\”. VEX Robotics Competition is one of the largest and fastest growing middle school, high school robotics programs globally (40 countries). Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game and 2018 theme is \”In The Zone\”. In addition to the competition A Free Seminar will be given from 2:00PM ~ 3:00PM at the same location for parents and students who would like to learn about Robotics and to participate in robotics competition in the future.

CIE/USA-DFW will be hosting our second annual VEX Robotics Competition (VRC)! Last year, CIE/USA-DFW successfully hosted the Skyrise VRC regional level competition at Rice Middle School, receiving positive feedback from all participating teams and volunteers. This year we aim to have even more participating teams as we prepare to host the Nothing But Net Challenge (regional level) on February 13th, 2016. The competition will be located at Schimelpfenig Middle School, with 24 teams participating.

In a community with Chinese background, Huawei\’s achievements make all of us proud.

The goal of this seminar is to discuss the retirement planning especially tailored for technical professionals. Often, technical professionals are not thinking ahead for their retirement planning, this seminar will provide effective suggestions from three aspects from the experts. The seminar will cover the professional developement, financial planning and healthcare. The seminar is not only for retired professionals, but also for professionals who would like to learn more about the planning prior the retirement.

The goal of the Leadership and Career Development Seminar is to encourage the graduate students and young professionals to foster leadership skill development and initiate the planning of their career for their long term career path development. The event will feature 3 speakers from broad background discussing leadership and career development from different perspectives. Important skills will also be recommended.

The 2014 CIE/USA-DFW 25th Anniversary Convention is a three-day event featuring an International Technology Symposium, VIP Reception, Dinner Banquet and Energy Executive Forum. The Convention will be held from August 15 to 17, 2014 at Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel (900 E. Lookout Dr, Richardson, Texas 75082, USA).

The symposium is held in conjunction with the Annual Convetion and will gather seventeen experts in the field of big data, internet of (every)things, energy systems, smart grid and leadership to discuss the current emerging technology and soft skills. The 2014 CIE/USA-DFW 25th Anniversary Convention is a three-day event featuring an International Technology Symposium, VIP Reception, Dinner Banquet and Energy Executive Forum. The Convention will be held from August 15 to 17, 2014 at Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel (900 E. Lookout Dr, Richardson, Texas 75082, USA).

The DFW Youth English Speech Contest will be held on June 28, 2014 (Saturday) at Collin College Spring Creek Campus. The registration is now open until June 20, 2014. We are honored to have Jim Key, Toastmasters International World Champion of Public Speaking 2003, to give a demo speech at the Award Presentation Ceremony.

The Annual MathComp/MathFun and Parenting Seminar is the flagship CIE/USA-DFW youth program attracting participation of about a thousand students, parents, educators and volunteers each year. This goal of this grand math fair is composed of 3 events: (a) a math competition, (b) a math fun fair and (c) a parenting seminar. The main goal is the simulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects within the youth at their early ages.

The Young Achiever Award (YAA) is a CIE\’s traditional charter of encouraging the young generation of our CIE members to achieve excellence in academic performance; to participate in extracurricular activities and community services; and to develop leadership skills in early stage of their life. TheYAA program is designed to encourage them by recognizing those young students, who have demonstrated so far that they have exceeded in achieving these goals. This particular recognition has proven to be very beneficial to the YAA recipients in their applications to university entrance and also as a good credential record for their career and life. The YAA Committee of CIE/USA DFW is now accepting applications, and its deadline of application is June 17th, 2013.

The annual convention is a celebration of the services that CIE/USA-DFW has delivered to the DFW community, and to affirm the partnership we have with industry, universities, government and community in which our members live and work. CIE/USA takes great pride of its 96 years of history, serving and representing the community of engineers of Chinese cultural heritage. As a non-profit professional organization, CIE/USA plays an important role in our economy and our society, especially with the growing needs for business savvy skilled workers in the field of engineering and science.

The 2013 CIE Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program (LAMP) will be held at the Hoblitzelle Hall Auditorium, HH 2.402 of University of Texas at Dallas at 1:30pm to 5:00pm on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend. This event is especially designed for graduating university students and young professionals who desire to enhance their knowledge and hand-on experience on hiring process, career development, corporate culture, and leadership.

AAEOY stands for Asian American Engineer of the Year award, an annual recognition event on the national platform to honor the most distinguished professionals with their leadership, technical achievements and remarkable public services. As a part of the National Engineers Week (DiscoverE) Program, AAEOY was first introduced in 2002, This event has since become a prestigious and important forum for Corporate America, Academia, and Government entities in promoting of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) activities.

21st century, even in these fledgling moments, is met with transformational changes. These changes cannot be more obvious than the creation of a new Global academic- business paradigm. Sitting in the middle of this paradigm is Asia, especially North Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. These regions are indeed the focus of the world in the 21st century.

I am excited to announce that the CIE Fall Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program will be held at the Hoblitzelle Hall Auditorium, HH 2.402 of University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday, December 1st.

The Chinese Institute of Engineers – DFW Chapter (CIE-DFW) and the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC) will host the 2012 Engineering Business Forum at the Maribelle Davis Library, 7501 Independence Parkway, Plano, Texas on Friday November 16, 2012. The forum is free and open to the public. The event will begin at 12:30PM and conclude by 4:30PM. The forum seeks to connect minority owned small businesses with major corporate and government buyers who are in need of diversified procurement for engineering services and technology products. Anticipated participants at this year’s event include the U.S. Patent Office, Huawei, DISD, Trinity Infrastructure, Dallas Public Works and Transportation, Hartline Dacus Barger Dreyer LLP and more.

Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA – DFW Chapter invites you to join the CIE Annual Convention Dinner Banquet. The theme of the convention is Green and Smart Technology for the New Decade. Following the Technology Symposium in the afternoon (register separately), the convention banquet will be held from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

The CIE-LAMP, or 2012 CIE-FACSS Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program Symposium, is co-hosted by Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA DFW Chapter (CIE) and Friendship Association of Chinese Students and Scholars (FACSS) at University of Texas at Dallas. In additional to the exciting keynote speech, we have redesigned the program\’s panel session to feature \”Live Job Interview\”. We will afford selected candidates live, on-stage mock interview opportunities to interact directly with high-profile panelists from leading companies. Our panelists will conduct mock interview for proposed positions in business, engineering and science. Furthermore, the panelists will discuss the \”hits and misses\” of each candidate\’s interview performance and provide with targeted, well-crafted feedback and interview tips.

The annual MathComp is a very popular math competition, providing young students of Grade 1-7 the opportunity to demonstrate their math problem solving skills. MathFun is an interactive program allowing parent/children to work together in solving math and engineering quizzes and games which stimulate the students\’ interest in mathematics. Students from Grade 1 to 7 in the Spring Semester of 2012 are invited to register for the competition and enjoy the fun. This year event will be held on June 2 from 12:00pm to 5:30pm at Collin College Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074

The CIE Young Achiever Award (YAA) is part of the CIE Youth Programs held each year. It is designed to encourage the young generation of the CIE community to achieve academic excellence, to participate in extracurricular activities and community services, and to develop leadership skills in the early stage of their life. The YAA program achieves these goals through special recognition of the students who have demonstrated high level of excellence in the above areas, through recommendations from the various sources with which we could evaluate their achievements. This particular recognition has proven to be very beneficial to the YAA recipients in their applications to colleges and universities, as well as a powerful credential for their careers down the road.

The 2010 DFW Youth English Speech Contest is a CIE-sponsored event. It is a unique opportunity for youths to initiate, research, write, and deliver an address to public audience. Volunteers of Texas Dragon Toastmasters Club will organize the contest. Experienced trained judges will judge all levels of competition. Students in grades 1 to 12 are invited to participate.
