2024 DFW Youth English Speech Contest

2024 DFW Youth English Speech Contest (In-Person), is Back in June!

The goal of the contest is to stimulate young students’ interests and boost their confidence and competence in public speaking by providing an opportunity for them to enhance their speech skills. This event has served the DFW community for over 10 years, and each year it attracts over 100 students from 1st to 12th grades for the contest and hundreds of participants including parents, educators, and volunteers involving this event.

Registration details:

Early Bird rate of $10 expires on May 25, 2024 11:59pm.

Registration fee will be $15 starting May 26.

Note: If you have more than 1 child participating in this event, please register tickets separately for each child. EX: If you have 2 children, please select tickets for workshops and contest for your first child and finish your purchase. After you register your first child, repeat the process for your next child.

Financial Assistance Available:

While the YESC committee strives to accommodate all requests for assistance, please note that our resources for financial aid are limited. Low-income families are encouraged to reach out to our committee to inquire about the possibility of waiving the participation fee. Contest details:

Who: All 1st to 12th graders (as of Spring 2024) in the DFW area.

When: Saturday, June 22, 2024, 12:45 PM – 5:00 PM CDT.

Check-in for the event begins at 12:45 AM.

Contestant briefing[MANDATORY] will begin at 1:35 PM.

Where: UT Dallas JSOM Davidson Auditorium

Information about workshop:

Two Free Workshops will be provided to help contestants prepare their speeches. All contestants are eligible for participating the workshop.The Youth English Speech Workshop is designed to help students learn core public speaking skills and gain an understanding of the criteria of a good speech. It also provides an opportunity for students to practice and enhance their speech skills.We have invited experienced speakers from Texas Dragon Toastmasters Club to present crucial techniques in public speaking, including how to organize a speech, how to use vocal variety and body language, and more. Guest student speakers will give demonstration speeches that apply these techniques, which will be followed by live evaluations from experienced evaluators, including Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM).We will also explain the speech contest judging guidelines to prepare you for the upcoming contest on June 22th, 2024.

  • June 15, 2024, 2:00PM-4:00PM CDT

CIE/USA-DFW Chapter (CIE) is a non-profit, politically-neutral organization focusing on engineering and professional well-being and networking. 
 
In order to keep the Chapter a high standard professional organization, I, as a director/officer/volunteer of the Organization, recognizes the responsibilities and the obligations of the position, do hereby declare to abide by the Code of Ethics in discharging my duties.
  • I agree that my motivation in accepting the position is to promote the mission and vision of the Organization;
  • I agree to obey the letter and the spirit of the laws, the Charter, and the by-laws that govern the Organization as a non-profit entity;
  • I agree that it is my duty to inform the members of issues that concern the members or the Organization in a fair and honest manner; but I will not take sides to advocate any political position, nor will I endorse any political candidate in my official capacity as a director/officer/volunteer of the Organization;
